30 km Rail Trail Loop

The railway that never got built left a delightful rail trail along the banks of the Salmon River. Head out of town along Tompkinsville Road where blueberries and Christmas trees are everywhere. Look out for a left turn as Tompkinsville Road eventually heads down the hill to the river. We’ll have it well marked.

At the end of Tompkinsville Road, turn right and you will soon be able to see the suspension bridge on your left. Go 2 km to the trail head at the bridge where we’ll have a rest stop with snacks and beverages. Go left on the trail and you’ll soon be on the beautiful McAllister Suspension Bridge. Thanks to the ATV and snowmobile crowd for restoring and keeping this trail open.
